The Hon. Allan Rock, PC, MP will speak tonight at an award presentation to Marc Hall, the gay student denied the right by the Durham Catholic School Board to bring his same-sex partner to his high school prom.
The award presentation will take place at the annual Gala on Parliament Hill of Egale, the national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered rights organisation.
“We are delighted that Minister Rock has agreed to speak at tonight’s Gala,” said John Fisher, Executive Director of Egale. “Equality is a Canadian value, and discrimination against gay students has no place in the public education system.”
