Outlaws & Inlaws: Equality Gala 2004

Toronto—On Tuesday June 22, 2004, Canadians for Equal Marriage, Egale Canada and ARC International will host their annual Equality Gala. The gala is a fundraising event for the fight for lesbian and gay rights both nationally and internationally.

This year’s honoree is the Honourable Martin Cauchon. While serving as Minister of Justice, Mr. Cauchon worked extensively to modernize Canada’s political and legal environment.

In addition to the Honourable Martin Cauchon, other prominent guests include comedian Maggie Cassella who will emcee the evening. When recently asked about equal marriage rights, Maggie was quoted as saying: “Besides, face it. Why would you want to amend the constitution to keep a group of people from being nerdy? That’ s right nerdy. Marriage is nerdy. I should know, I’m married and I’m a nerd. The really cool people just shack up.”

Mary McCandless, well-known musical theatre performer will be launching her new CD ‘Lipstick Legend’ and will be performing from the collection of loves songs for gays and lesbians.and anyone else. Performing with Mary will be Forte Men’s Chorus.
